The Portfolio Company of AGF, Enpower Completed A+ Round of Financing

Enpower Technology Co., Ltd. (Including Enpower's solid-state battery companies in China, Japan and the United States, hereinafter referred to as "Enpower ") announced the completion of more than $20 million A + round of financing. This round of financing is jointly led by Sequoia China and Dayone Capital, followed by Guangzhou Automobile Capital, Borun Capital, Tianqi Capital and Niuli Capital, Scheme Capital acted as the exclusive financial adviser for two consecutive rounds financing. This is another round of financing completed by Enpower to accelerate the industrialization of solid-state batteries after the A-round financing of over 100 million yuan at the beginning of this year. The funds will be mainly used for product iteration, market expansion and production line construction.

At present, Empower has successfully manufactured 1.2Ah/3.6Ah/10Ah soft package type and a variety of cylindrical mixed lithium metal batteries with energy density up to 520 Wh/kg and volume energy density of 1100 Wh/L. The all-solid-state prototype battery of the lithium metal anode of the sulfide solid-state electrolyte can realize more than 1000 times of full charge-discharge cycles (the capacity retention rate is more than 80%);The battery has a charge-discharge performance of 10C and an operating temperature range of -40 to + 100 degrees Celsius.

Enpower takes the high-end UAV market, which is highly sensitive to battery energy density, as the starting point, and is advancing into the power battery market through process iteration, product series expansion and cooperative development with automobile companies. Following the development of high energy density solid-state batteries for Softbank Group's stratospheric ultra-high altitude UAVs and communication UAVs in 2020, Enpower released the first generation product test report in 2021. In the field of UAV and other aerial vehicles, Enpower has entered the stage of B-sample trial flight this year.

According to news reports, Enpower has completed the layout of the United States as a research and development center, Japan as an engineering center, and China as an advanced manufacturing center from pilot to mass production. At present, the products are being pilot-tested in Beijing Daxing Sino-Japanese Innovation International Cooperation Demonstration Zone. Enpower adheres to the product development ideas of production generation, R & D generation, and reserve generation. With the opportunity of early projects such as Softbank UAV, Enpower has made breakthroughs in energy density and cycle life, and successfully passed a set of safety tests such as needling, which further proves that relying on the continuous optimization of lithium metal anode and electrolyte material system, products with high energy density and safety will be displayed in front of the world, and their differentiation advantages will be more obvious.

With the continuous breakthroughs in technology and process, Enpower has relatively mature cathode coating process, coating process and rolling manufacturing process of lithium metal anode, and has successfully manufactured 1Ah/3.6Ah/10Ah grade soft package type and a variety of cylindrical mixed lithium metal batteries. At present, Enpower is negotiating and cooperating with many automobile companies to jointly promote the product development and mass production of power batteries. As an innovative enterprise in the field of solid-state batteries, Enpower said that in the future, it will choose the mode of self-built factories and cooperation with automobile enterprises to achieve large-scale production and delivery of products.

In order to overcome the bottleneck of the development of lithium batteries and meet the huge demand of human society for batteries, the technical route of solid-state batteries has been affirmed by the investment, industry and academia. Solid-state batteries will enter a period of accelerated development of industrialization. Regarding the cost of all-solid-state lithium metal batteries in the future, Enpower believes that compared with ternary liquid lithium ion batteries, with the maturity of the industrial chain, BOM cost will have an advantage of 20-30%, and because the production process omits the back-end links such as injection and liquefaction, the overall production time will be greatly shortened and energy consumption will be significantly reduced. In the future, the production cost of solid-state batteries will have advantages.

The important partners of Enpower include Professor John Goodenough, who is the "father of international lithium-ion batteries" and winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2019 and his laboratory at UT-Austin; Professor Kanno Ryoji of Tokyo Institute of Technology, who is the inventor of superionic conductors (LGPS) and founder of sulfide all-solid-state battery system and his laboratory; As well as more than 30 international well-known enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the industry.
